I know that some people who have read my previous review on spironolactone may feel that I didn’t treat it fairly. The truth of the matter is that spironolactone does actually work on most people who use it.

So, you now may want to ask if you should use it. My answer is that it depends on a number of factors. These are the things you need to consider in my opinion:

1. Do you want to regrow hair? If you do, then Spiro is not for you. Spironolactone really just helps you to stop losing your hair, but it doesn’t regrow hair. Therefore, it’s really not a miracle drug anyway.

2. Do you or anyone that has to be near you during the day have a sensitive nose? If they do, then this is not for you. You really need to consider whether or not you want to be associated with such a horrible fragrance as Spiro gives off. If you don’t care about smell, then you may want to consider it.

3. Do you care about how clean your hair looks most of the time? It’s not that it looks dirty, but it is greasy. You may be able to cover up the look of it with gel, but chances are, people will still notice.

So, if any one of those issues seems like a deal breaker, then you should not go with spironolactone. There are plenty of other drugs out there that work just as well or better and won’t make you look like a mountain man or smell like road kill. In fact, most other drugs really target hair regrowth, which is a lot better than just slowing down your current hair loss.

Dihydrotestosterone, or DHT, is the leading cause of hair loss in both men and women. It’s actually a little bit odd that we can target the leading cause of hair loss, but it’s still just so hard to completely block its effects and solve the problem of hair loss forever. What it comes down to is that DHT is a hormone, and messing with hormones can be unpredictable and risky at best.

The problem that arises when hormones are messed with is that the reason one particular hormone such as DHT is produced in the body is to counteract the effects or take the place of a hormone that may be in over or underproduction in your body. DHT is directly related to and affected by the level of testosterone in the bloodstream. If you’ve heard about the problems that can occur when someone messes with their testosterone levels through the use of hormone supplements, you know it’s generally not something that you really want to deal with.

DHT is responsible for more than just hair loss in males as well. It plays a major role in the growth of facial hair, the deepening of the voice during puberty, sex drive, and muscle growth. Because of the important role it plays in helping men look and act like men, the hormone cannot be completely blocked or eliminated in the body.

The production of DHT in the scalp is the primary problem for men and women experiencing hair loss, which means that it’s actually possible to have plenty of DHT to keep your body in balance, while at the same time virtually eliminating hair loss as a problem.

Most people report that the use of a minoxidil based topical solution such as Provillus or Rogaine will be sufficient for their needs, and adding other known natural scalp DHT blockers such as Saw Palmetto, also found in Provillus, can lead to an increased rate of success.

If DHT were not flowing through the veins and capillaries of almost every person in the world today, hair loss would not be nearly such a big problem as it is now. I guess that would be a good thing for us, but a bad thing for companies like Rogaine and Scalp Med.

Because there have been plenty of modern advances in science, the hair-loss community as a whole at least now understands what causes DHT, and of course how it can be stopped or its effects at least be lessened. As for the cause of DHT in men, it is mostly a result of a decrease or depleation of testosterone in the male body. As for women, it’s caused by a depletion of estrogen, causing her to have more testosterone in her body than she should.

Many people feel that genetics is what causes hair loss, which is only partially true. People from the same blood line will of course have many similar physical characteristics. However, if production is stopped, even a person who is genetically predisposed to have a hair loss problem will be able to overcome it and maintain a full head of hair.

What it comes down to for almost any person that has a problem with hair loss is that stopping production of DHT will cause your hair loss problem to diminish. Although there is not a product available right now on the market that will cause every person to completely stop losing their hair, there are a number of products that work well enough for almost anyone that they are definitely worth mentioning.

The product that I have been using for over a year now is called Provillus, and I have found it to hold up to its promises of stopping hair loss and regrowing hair. Provillus has a formula for both men and women, so they can help almost anyone who has a hair loss problem.
