Because there have been plenty of modern advances in science, the hair-loss community as a whole at least now understands what causes DHT, and of course how it can be stopped or its effects at least be lessened. As for the cause of DHT in men, it is mostly a result of a decrease or depleation of testosterone in the male body. As for women, it’s caused by a depletion of estrogen, causing her to have more testosterone in her body than she should.

Many people feel that genetics is what causes hair loss, which is only partially true. People from the same blood line will of course have many similar physical characteristics. However, if production is stopped, even a person who is genetically predisposed to have a hair loss problem will be able to overcome it and maintain a full head of hair.

What it comes down to for almost any person that has a problem with hair loss is that stopping production of DHT will cause your hair loss problem to diminish.
