Because I already did a review of Organin, I decided to go just one step further and put together a review of Toppik as well. The products are quite similar, so I am going to present the facts about them and let you decide which one is actually better.

What Are Toppik and Organin, and How Do They Work?

Essentially, Toppik and Organin are the same product at heart. They do the same thing, but they are made by different companies. Both Toppik and Organin is not at all designed to increase hair growth or decrease hair loss, as you probably already know. They are essentially there just to cover up bald spots on your head so that they are less noticable. They are made up of a fibrous substance called keratin that looks more like real hair than just a simple spray coloring bottle would, so in that sense, it’s a lot better than many products intended to cover up bald spots that are more like spray paint than real hair.

Both come in a number of colors, so for most people, it’s not too hard to get a color that matches your real hair color, and you can get it to match up pretty well. However, it’s never going to match your hair perfectly, so sometimes it is quite noticable to other people. In my opinion, the last thing you need when you are trying to cover up your bald spots is something to draw attention to it. Because it’s not permanently attached, it can also flake off on occasion and get on your clothes, which can also be a major drawback. I personally used Organin, and I did have this problem.

In my own experience, I have found products of this nature to be potentially good on SOME occasions, such as for family pictures. If you are VERY self conscious about having thinning hair, either one of them would be a good buy, and the most important considerations for you should probably be the price and getting a color that matches your hair well.

Toppik vs. Organin – Which One Wins?

I would say it’s a dead even tie for which one actually works better. I know that Toppk has a satisfaction guarantee, and I don’t know if I can say the same for Organin. Considering the fact that you may find that it’s not for you, it’s a good idea to buy a product with a guarantee. If I were to buy one of them, I would probably go with the one with the guarantee.

Even though these products do work for lots of people, I have chosen to shy away from simply covering up my hair loss problem. In my opinion, it’s a lot better to just have your own realy hair on your head, rather than just try and make it look like you have real hair. I personally use Provillus, and I have been very impressed with the amount of hair that I have been able to grow back. It contains Minoxidil, which is FDA approved to regrow hair, and it also contains some herbal supplements that work on areas other than the crown of the head, which is what Minoxidil targets. I am to the point that I don’t even need a product like Toppik or Orgainin to cover up the spots on my scalp that used to be noticably more bald than the rest of my head. I have received a lot of requests from people who ask for me to give a run-down on the differences between Rogain and Organin. I have decided to give sort of a basic run-down of what they each do, and then let you decide which one really is the best for you.

What is Rogain and Does Rogain Work?

Rogain is a topical solution that has been available for use for quite a long time. Its main active ingredient is called Minoxidil. This “secret ingredient” is designed to help increase blood flow in your scalp and therefore increase hair growth.

For most people who use Rogaine, they find that their hair falls out a lot faster for the first couple of weeks, because the hair follicles are preparing to grow newer, healthier hair. After about 3 months, most people begin to see an increase in the amount of new hair they have growing in, as well as a decrease in the amount of hair that they have falling out. about 85% of all customers see some hair regrowth after at least a 6 month period. So, it does work. It usually costs about $35-$40 for a one month supply of Rogain.

Because Rogaine has been on the market for quite a while, they lost their exclusive patent and so other companies have been able to begin to market products with Minoxidil as viable solutions for treating hair loss. What Is Organin and How Does It Work?

Organin is not at all designed to increase hair growth or decrease hair loss, as you probably already know. It’s essentially there just to cover up bald spots on your head so that they are less noticable.

Organin is simply a fibrous substance that you are supposed to sprinkle on to your hair to help cover up balding areas. The idea is that since is is a fibrous substance, it will not lay flat, but rather retain a texture similar to that of hair, thus effectively covering balding areas and avoiding the fake, spray-painted look.

It apparently consists of an all natural substance called keratin, and since it is not intented to regrow hair in any way but rather to cover up baldness, it does not have any reported side-effects or problems associated with its use.

Organin comes in a number of colors, so it’s possible to get a color that very closely matches your own hair color. Of course, if you are unable to find a color that matches, it’s probably best to find something else to cover your bals spots, because it will draw a lot of attention on its own.

Does It Really Work Well?

I have personally used Organin before, and I did not use very much of it before I decided to discontinue its use. For one thing, it is just a temporary fix, and it is delaying the inevitable; your hair is eventually going to be all gone and there is no way to cover it up when there’s nothing left.

I thought that it was a little too difficult to get the fibers to look natural on my head. I sprinkled them on and patted them down just like the directions say, but it still just looked like there was something a little off-color in my hair, and several people mentioned to me that it looked like there was something in my hair. Sure, it did cover up my scalp, but it did not look natural. There were a couple of times that it even flaked off on to my clothing, and that was embarrassing.

My Recommendation:

If you want to cover up your hair loss, I would recommend finding something that will actually regrow hair in stead of just covering up the problem. Just imagine being able to look in the mirror and see a full head of hair, and not just some fibers covering up your baldness.

I personally use Provillus on a daily basis, and I have been able to re-grow a lot of hair that I already lost over the past several years. It’s not perfect and it doesn’t work instantly, but I would suggest it to anyone who is looking for a real product they can rely on to start to get rid of their hair-loss problem or at least get it under control.
